Tale as Old as Time

Or maybe not. Jaime Benefit wrote a letter when she was 13 years old to a soldier, any soldier. Jeremy Clayton, a 19 year old picked a letter out of a basket because it was written in green and the he liked her name. The two became pen pals and until 1990 they wrote to each other.

When Jeremy began fighting in the ground war all the letters except for two which he hid were destroyed in case he was captured. Jaime put hers in a box and they sat there for almost 20 years. When her parents began remodeling her room she had to clean out the boxes.

Jaime contacted the Department of Defense to find out what happened to Jeremy. She searched for him on facebook and sent him a message- "Were you in desert storm?"

He knew exactly who she was and they met fell in love and were married on July 15th.

They still write each other letters...
